Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes across the vast array of stately homes in Britain. Well let the Historic Houses association take you on a journey through these very doors as an organisation who boasts 1500 members made up of privately owned Houses, Castles and Gardens around the UK.
Hear from a variety of people talking about the very fabric of Historic houses across Britain, these include insight from both owners and workers into why the Civil war was important to Broughton hall in Oxfordshire, award winning gardens at Levens Hall in the picturesque Lake District (if you love a garden you will be in for a treat across the HHA network as many have simply beautiful grounds to peruse).
People often don’t realise the massive array available to see at Britain’s heritage houses with work continuing to expand the offering to visitors, for example Castle Howard in Yorkshire restoring its mass Art collection but continuing to expand so theres always more to enjoy and off course you’d expect to get a nice cuppa and cake but Lincolnshires Doddington Hall’s huge Farm Shop has been extremely successful producing a range of home grown produce on the estate and locally to be purchased and enjoyed.
And off course we still have Knights present protecting these gems (well re-inactments) as one of the brave Knights says at Hever Castle in Kent you simply must come along and check out Jousting, sword fighting and loads of medieval action.
But with so many of these houses passionate about preserving and improving for future generations plus the magic of actually still being lived in Houses we would suggest you look at the HHA website to find a location near you, go discover and most importantly enjoy.
