The Ringmaster – behind the scenes in Greater Yarmouth

The spotlight beckons, the drum rolls, and into the ring steps the ringmaster, king of all he surveys for this performance only….

Jack has grown up in the circus, a proud Great Yarmouth tradition handed down from showman to showman, with the Hippodrome built in 1903 by legendary showman George Gilbert.

Working in the circus is very much a family affair, it’s a tight-knit group who pull together to put on awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping performances of death defying acrobatics, fun and frolics twice daily in season, giving immense pleasure, laughter and huge thrills to an entirely spell-bound audiences.

The circus gets under your skin and is clear to see that Jack’s blood, sweat and tears goes into running the Hippodrome, dreaming up the shows, the music, the laughs and then giving his all in the twice daily performances. He wouldn’t have it any other way.
